View Larger Electrelane - No Shouts, No Calls
The first time I had heard Electrelane, it was when Sara Quin (of Tegan and Sara) included their song Saturday on a mix-tape she made together for a website. Immediately it became one of my favourite songs. The first time I listened to this entire album, they became one of my favourite bands.
Naturally, I was pleased to discover they came from Brighton.
For some reason, one of the elements that really stands out for me is the drumming - very simple but incredibly effective.
To me, the stand-out songs on this album are The Greater Times, After The Call (which featured on one of my favourite episode of Skins), In Berlin, and of course, Saturday, which still remains to this day, three years after I first heard it, one of my favourite songs of all time.
