A rant about things
It’s like, people have this very specific view of what Britain is like, and seem to forget that it is made up if 3-4 different countries, and several different regions, with an incredibly wide range of accents for such a tiny place.
There’s a quote somewhere (I’ll find it later) that said anglophiles generally celebrate the things that make Britain quaint, not the things that make it great.
I mean, yay, Doctor Who is great, I live Sylvester McCoy, but did anyone see Demons? It was fucking awful, and a waste of money. As is Waterloo Road. Why can’t we import Degrassi like the rest of the world?
Did you know that 7% of the population go/went to private school, and yet 50% (or more) of them get in to Oxbridge? How is that fair?
And that although the government seems to spend a shit ton on making paediatric wards nice and comfortable, the geriatric wards are probably the most neglected places in hospitals. Do you know how upsetting it is? Yes, our healthcare is free, and I’ll forever be thankful for that, but not if they’re not giving a shot about an entire age group. And this is an ongoing problem in the UK, one quick google search can show you that.
Don’t move to Britain: we treat the elderly like shit.
I have no idea what this rant is about. I was woken up this morning so now I hate everything.
