Look what I picked up from a charity shop!
I actually owned a set of my own, “back in the day”, and have managed to find most of them, but I couldn’t miss out on getting the full deck, especially for 99p.
The bottom picture is just a dorky comparison between the “pristine-ness” of the two sets. The card on the right is from my original set. Y’know, the scruffy one.
I was always really meticulous about how I put the cards back in the box, and I would always put my favourite character (at the time - buffy) at the front and then put the rest of the cards in order of how my i liked them.
Also, considering that top trumps is a children’s card game and this game came out in 2001, it’s interesting to note that how on the Willow card they list her boyfriends (Xander and Oz), which sadly I guess is to be expected, BUT on the Tara card it states that “Tara is welcomed into the gang soon after Willow welcomes Tara into her heart.”
It’s just cool as it’s a small acknowledgement of that relationship in a children’s game, back before it was still a very touchy subject on television, before shows like skins and glee and pretty little liars and greys anatomy came along and made being gay on mainstream television the absolute norm (regardless of how you or I feel about these shows).
I dunno, it’s just cool and I’m a dork and I love top trumps at buffy.
No, you don’t understand.
This actually happens.
We got a 16 year old boy on our unit once, because Pediatrics was full, and it’s about 1 in the morning and all the nurses are at the nurses station having a break and we’re all talking and having a laugh and then all of a sudden this kids heart monitor just goes CRAZY.
So we call the code and I grab the crash cart and about 6 of us just take off running down the hall and we bust in the room and this kid is just sitting there with his hand around his junk looking MORTIFIED.
So we just sort of backed out of the room quietly, walked calmly to the stairwell, and had a total and complete hysterical breakdown.
It was the funniest shit ever.
*dies laughing* Oh man, that poor boy. But still. LOL.
